《诗经·小雅·车辖》英译

《车辖》
Chugging Axles

间关车之辖兮，
Chug,chug,my cart does roar.
思娈季女逝兮。
I'm to fetch her after all.
匪饥匪渴，
No longer need to yearn day and night
德音来括。
Cause from today she'll be by my side.
虽无好友？
Though no good friends celebrate,
式燕且喜。
We'll be merry with wine and cate.

依彼平林，
Thickset in the plain is the forest.
有集维鷮。
On trees long-tailed pheasants rest.
辰彼硕女，
The girl's graceful and vigorous.
令德来教。
She's well bred and virtuous.
式燕且誉，
We'll feast,and I'll shower joviality.
好尔无射。
My love to her will last to eternity.

虽无旨酒？
Though I don't have sweet wine,
式饮庶几。
I hope you'll have a drink or two.
虽无嘉肴？
Though I don't have dishes fine
式食庶几。
I'll try my best to serve you.
虽无德与女？
Though to you I'm not the best.
式歌且舞？
We'll sing and dance with zest.

陟彼高冈，
I mount to that high hilltop.
析其柞薪。
Oak twigs for firewood I chop.
析其柞薪，
Oak twigs for firewood I cut
其叶湑兮。
Amid the lush foliage dark.
鲜我觏尔，
I'll marry the rare thee.
我心写兮。
So my heart'll worry-free.

高山仰止，
One needs to look up to the high fell.
景行行止。
On the flat road one can travel well.
四牡騑騑，
My four steeds rush on,merry and gay
六辔如琴。
The six reins like lute music I play.
觏尔新婚，
Today I'll marry you-my belle bride.
以慰我心。
Bravo! My heart's full of delight.
