《巷伯》 The Eunuch

萋兮斐兮， How riotous the colorful ribbons are!

成是贝锦。 You can knit shell-design silk brocade.

彼谮人者， The bloody loose tongues never jar,

亦已大甚！ Stop at no evil decade after decade.

哆兮侈兮， How large the foul mouths are!

成是南箕。 Just like the dust-pan shaped star.

彼谮人者， Oh,bloody gossipers.What nonsense!

谁适与谋。 Who teach you against your conscience?

缉缉翩翩， You blab and babble all the way,

谋欲谮人。 Harbor ill intentions against other

慎尔言也， Be careful about what you say.

谓尔不信。 No audience otherwise you’ll suffer.

捷捷幡幡， You blab and babble all the way,

谋欲谮言。 Tell lies and say wrong of the right

岂不尔受？ Some people take in what you say,

既其女迁。 But truth will finally come into light.

骄人好好， The mischief-makers succeed.

劳人草草。 So the victims suffer the pain.

苍天苍天， Oh,my God,it’s wrong indeed!

视彼骄人， Please punish the evil creature

矜此劳人。 And pity those good in nature.

彼谮人者， Oh,bloody gossipers. What nonsense!

谁适与谋？ Who teach you against your conscience?

取彼谮人， Let’s catch the long-tongued pest!

投畀豺虎。 To feed tigers with him is the best.

豺虎不食， If tigers abandon him as he is foul

投畀有北。 Give him to savages at North Pole.

有北不受， If savages refuse to take him as food

投畀有昊！ Let’s hand him over to god for good.

五彩丝啊色缤纷，
织成一张贝纹锦。
嚼舌头的害人精，
坏事做绝太过份!

臭嘴一张何其大，
好比夜空簸箕星。
嚼舌头的害人精，
是谁教你昧良心?

嘁嘁喳喳来又去，
一心想把人来坑。
劝你说话负点责，
不然往后没人听。

喳喳嘁嘁去又来，
一心造谣又说谎。
并非没人来上当，
总有一天要现相。

捣鬼的人竟得逞，
受害的人却瞢腾。
苍天苍天你在上!
管管那些害人精，
可怜可怜受害人!

嚼舌头的害人精，
是谁教你昧良心?
抓住长舌害人精，
丢给荒山豺虎吞。
如果豺虎不肯吞，
丢到北极喂野人。
如果北极也不要，
还交老天来严惩。

一条小路通杨园，
小路越过山坡顶。
刑馀之人名孟子，
编首歌子为宽心。
过往君子慢慢行，
请君为我倾耳听!
