Lesson 12 Resources 资源

A nation’s resources consist of three broad areas:
国家的资源由三大方面组成：
natural,capital,and labor,
Natural resources are provided by nature in limited amounts;
自然资源、资本资源和劳动力资源。自然资源是大自然赋予的，数量有限；
they include crude oil.natural gas.minerals timber,and water,
包括原油、天然气、矿产、木材和水。
Natural resources must be processed to become a product
or to be used to produce other goods or services.
自然资源必须经加工才能成为产品或用于生产其他产商品或服务。
For example.trees must be processed into lumber
before they can be used to build houses,shopping malls,and schools.
例如树木要加工成木材才能用来建造住宅、商厦和学校。
Capital resources refer to goods produced
for the purpose of making other types of goods and services.
资本资源是指为制造其他商品或服务而生产的产品。
Some capital resources,called current assets,
have a short life and are used up in the production process.
有些被称为流动资产的资本资源寿命很短，在生产过程中就耗尽了。
These resources include fuel,raw materials paper.and money.
此类资源包括燃料、原材料、纸张和货币。
Long-lived capital resources,
which can be used reapeatedly in the production process,
are called fixed capital.
可以在生产过程上重复使用的寿命较长的资本资源被称作固定资本。
Examples include factory buildings,compact-disk machines,
personal computers,and railroad cars.
例如厂房、激光唱机、个人电脑和火车车厢。
Labor resources represent the total workforce of a nation.
劳动力资源是指国家的人才资源。
To have vlue in the labor force,
individuals must be trained to perform either skilled or semiskilled work.
只有受过培训，胜任技术性或半技术性工作的人才可以在劳动力大军中占据重要的一席之地。
For example,the job of a physicist requires extensive station’s gas pumps.
例如，物理学家的工作需要大量的培训，而在加油站操作油泵仅需极少的培训。
Human talent is the most valuable national resource.
人才资源是最宝贵的国家资源。
Without it,no productive use of either natural
or capital resources is possible.
没有人才资源就无法有效地利用自然资源和资本资源。

so we can receive training there.

How nice!But will you have to pay for the training?

No.The company pays for everything.Doesn’t this sound very attractive?
