在上面的报道中，pay(salary) caps就是指"封顶薪水"，指的是最高薪水限额。有时也形象地称为"工资帽"。而既然有pay cap，那就肯定会有pay (salary) floor（保底工资，最低工资）。Cap在这里指"最高限额"，如payment cap就是指"分期付款的上限"，而cap fee就是"封顶收费"。

处于cap和floor之间的"两头封"，则用collar来表示，常见用法是interest rate collar即"利率两头封"，指的是在协议期间内的任何时间,如果市场的波动利率超过封顶或者低于封底,协议的一方要给另一方补偿,补偿的数额取决于实际利率于封顶或者封底的差额.。

除了高薪，高管们还可以获得Golden Parachute（黄金降落伞）补偿。这一做法最早起源于美国，指的是公司被收购时，公司高管无论是主动还是被迫离开公司，都可以获得一笔巨额安置补偿费用，高至数千至数亿美元。高管们上任之初就谋划好了离职遣散费，还想在失业率飚升的时候拿高薪，难怪犯了众怒。
